Theater Oobleck's new play, NECESSITY, is about history's
most neglected inventor, the woefully overlooked Thomas Edison.
In 1877 Thomas Edison announced that in six months time he would introduce
the first practical incandescent light bulb. By 1879, after spending $40,000
on thousands of experiments, he had failed. Edison was taken to court by his Wall
Street backers and imprisoned for investment fraud. There he would have died a forgotten
electrical tinkerer if not rescued from obscurity by Theater Oobleck.
